The Atticus Chronicles

Howdy Folks! After waiting very patiently for my husband to set up a web page for my son for almost a year I figured it was high time that I took matters into my own hands. Introducing our Family Blog! I hope to get on here fairly regularly to let you all know about the adventures of our family and to post the latest pic's of Atticus. Stay tuned ...

Pediatrician

Took Atticus to see the pediatrician today (Dr Cutting) who was conveniently located in Lilydale. He agreed that all symptoms pointed to silent reflux and he's prescribed Losec for Atti until he grows out it. I also have to cut dairy foods out of my diet just in case his troubles are allergy related (how am I ever going to survive with chocolate milk shakes)? Anyway, it's so good to actually know what is wrong with Atti and that it's not just me. If one more person had told me that "all babies cry" I would have gone postal!

Silent Reflux

After a combination of the week from hell and doing a bit of my own detective work, Justin and I have come to the conclusion that Atticus probably suffers from silent reflux (a condition where the baby throws up into their mouth and then swallows the vomit burning their throat and tummy in the process). It's called silent because we don't actually see any vomiting I guess? This explains why Atti has all of a sudden become very angry too as it would have taken months for his throat to be burnt to the point where it would be causing him discomfort.

Anyway, we took Atti to our GP this morning who agreed that it looked likely that Atti had reflux and we've been referred to a specialist in Lilydale (and thankfully have managed to secure an appointment for tomorrow morning due to a cancellation).

Hopefully he'll be lovely and has all the answers (well here's hoping anyway).

Atticus Puppy

Here's Atti in the puppy suit that he borrowed off his friend Ella. Maybe this is where his obsession with dogs began?

Dee Day!

Dee has thankfully offered her assistance this evening with Atti so is staying over and helping me turn the little mans frown upside down (well that's the theory anyway). I swear that Atticus knows Justin is missing and is actually pining for him because he's turned into a miserable mess of a child ever since Justin left.

Dee brought me a Bertie Beetle show bag (as she was working at the show earlier in the week) and a "My first showbag" for Atti. It contained a cup and a spinny toy thingy and a bib and some utensils. He really is one spoilt baby! Just over three months old and already a showbag!

Unfortunately Dee had as much luck as I did trying to get Atti to stop crying and I'm starting to think that something really might be wrong with him. I know, I know ... all babies cry ... but they don't cry like this! I might look into taking him to see a paedeatrition in the near future if things don't improve. All he does is scream! I'm so exhausted ... but Justin's home tomorrow night ... thank God!

Day from Hell!

Atticus and I went to visit the triplets this afternoon and I don't think Atticus stopped screaming the whole time we were there. He's also recently decided that he hates travelling in the car so he also screamed the whole half hour drive to and from their house. I'm a bit screamed out to be honest. What I wouldn't do for some help! Where are you Justin?

Justin's gone to Sydney for a training course for the week ... I'm not happy! He's been with IBM five years and has never gone anywhere and now suddenly just when we've got a three month old he's going away. I've teed up some support from various friends and family but nothing really beats having Justin home. My main issue is that my back's not what it used to be since I had Atti and it hurts me to bath him ... I guess the worst case scenario would be a very stinky baby when Daddy comes home? This is also the longest time that Justin and I have ever been apart before (the previous record holder being the night I had surgery last year and had to stay in hospital overnight). I know, we're big sooks!

Atti's Aquarium

Thank God for the aquarium! Now Justin and I can eat dinner AT THE SAME TIME! Atticus is mesmerised by it ... it has so many features it's like a baby Disneyland! Thank you David & Dianne! The hands free time that this device allows is priceless!

Justin's First Fathers Day

This picture was taken on Father's Day 2004 just before Justin headed out for some brekkie with his son. Atticus only presented Justin with a copy of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection which I'm sure the boys will spend hours of quality time watching together.

I headed off in the other direction to watch Before Sunset with my good friend Ash so that the boys could have some quality time together ... and I could have some quality time away from them ;-)

Introducing Mr Moo-ter

This is Mr Moo-ter. He's Atti's pet cow. He's also the very first object Atti has ever used his hands to grab a hold of. His latest trick is to shake Mr Moo-ter wildly about the room (while Mummy delivers a standing ovation). The cats (and more importantly their tails) will never be safe again!
