The Atticus Chronicles

Howdy Folks! After waiting very patiently for my husband to set up a web page for my son for almost a year I figured it was high time that I took matters into my own hands. Introducing our Family Blog! I hope to get on here fairly regularly to let you all know about the adventures of our family and to post the latest pic's of Atticus. Stay tuned ...

Birthday Boy

Atticus assiting Daddy with cooking pancakes
We'll it was Justin's Birthday today but the fact that I had gastro put a bit of a dampener on our celebrations. Not only was I confined to the bathroom for most of the day but I couldn't even attend the birthday celebrations that were held at his folks house that evening :-(

Luckily Justin still managed to enjoy the day and totally trumped my presents by presenting me with an Ipod Video that he'd bought me as a surprise!

A Pink Parcel!

Well I officially almost fell off the bed when we were told we had a 90-95% chance of having a girl today! That was definitely not what I expected to hear at all. It goes without saying that the entire family is over the moon and the purchasing of pink clothing has already begun!

The scan went well and everything is where it's supposed to be and all in the right proportions. My dates are pretty much perfect so we should be able to meet her by early March.

Atti is so excited!!! He told me from the beginning I was having a girl ... I should have listened to his psychic predictions ;-)

A trip to the dentist

I can't begin to describe how nervous I was taking Theo to the Vet today to have his teeth fixed. The thought of putting my 16 year old cat under a general anesthetic absolutely filled me with dread! Mercifully nothing went wrong and Theo is now at home with a bit of a sore gob but otherwise unscathed. Hopefully now his eating with pick up (along with his weight and his coat)!

Here's a pic of the man in question ... and one of Floyd just for Amy ;-)

Lilydale Lake

Seriously, with the huge and extensive play equipment on offer at the Lilydale Lake isn't it obvious that Atti's just going to play with the sand?

Vegemite is tasty!

Apparently it does wonders for your complexion too ;-)

In other news, Justin and I have been taking Atticus to the pools on a weekly basis in a effort to overcome this new found fear he's developed of the water. He was fine for the first swimming lesson but ever since becomes hysterical and clings to Justin or me with both his legs and arms whenever we put him in the pool. It's quite a change from his usual love of the water (and quite distracting for his class mates too I'd imagine). I've been told he's just become more 'aware' of his environment (ie has just realised that the water is deep and he can't breathe in the water) and that he'll outgrow it in time. It is very frustrating though. He's fine in the water if he can stand so we're making an effort to take him to the pool as often as possible to reinforce the whole fun aspect (although I doubt splashing in the toddler pool will teach him many swimming skills). If things continue on the way they have been though I think we'll have to give the classes up for the time being.
