The Atticus Chronicles

Howdy Folks! After waiting very patiently for my husband to set up a web page for my son for almost a year I figured it was high time that I took matters into my own hands. Introducing our Family Blog! I hope to get on here fairly regularly to let you all know about the adventures of our family and to post the latest pic's of Atticus. Stay tuned ...

Had an appointment with my specialist today who informs me that my Endometriosis is back with a vengeance (gee I didn't see that one coming) and that I require some more surgery (what a shock)! I'm planning to put it off for as long as I possibly can though as I'm still breast feeding and really would like weening to be Atti's decision rather than mine and also Justin and just aren't ready to contemplate another one just yet!

Radiation Therapy

At the recommendation of Monty's specialist we had a whole heap of tests done on Friday to determine if the lymphoma was widespread or confined to Monty's nose. Turns out that it is just in his nose (phew) so we're going to try radiation therapy which gives us a 50% chance of curing him rather than the 5% that chemo gives. It's going to be a long, hard & expensive road but he's part of our family. More news later.

Atti's Birthday Party

Here are some of the many highlights from Atticus' Birthday Party. As you can see chocolate crackles were the trend of the day (thanks Bennett) and lots of fun (and fairy bread) was had by all! Thanks to everybody who came along to help us celebrate and to those who couldn't make it, we hope to catch up with you soon!

Birthday Boy!!!

My baby turned one today!! He's now officially a little boy!

Justin has this week off so we went to the pancake parlour for lunchies and then chased some balls around Ambers Playhouse for an hour or so before heading home to open the remainder of Atti's pressies.

Thank you to Ella & Mel for the special handmade wrapping paper than you guys used. Justin was such a big fan of it he's stuck it over the top of my Van Gogh!

Queen's Birthday Holiday with Steph & Bennett

Justin, Atticus & I made the trek over to Werribee today to have lunch with Steph, her Mummy & the gorgeous Bennett. Atti was a big fan of Bennett's neverending supply of toys (in particular the Fisher Price band stand rocked quite a bit) and he also made some new friends in Penny & Jumble. Thanks for lunchies Steph! We'll be back soon!

Giddy up!

Granny & Grumpy Smith popped over for lunchies today and to present Atti with his Birthday present. I think he was a BIG fan ... and the sand all over his clothes, in his mouth and all over my house proves me correct!

I love my sandpit!!!

Diagnosis

Monty and I went to a specialist centre today so he could have a nasal probe to identify the foreign object that's causing him so much bother. Unfortunately .. much to my distress it turns out he has Lymphoma. This is probably the worst news I could expect to hear and I certainly wasn't prepared for it. The last couple of days have been a tear streaked blur and Justin and I are still trying to figure out our next course of action to give Monty some quality of life for the time he has left. I'll write more when I know more.

Lunch & Play with the Grahams

David & Dianne were kind enough to invite us over for lunch today and afterwards we spent some quality time in the park behind their house. Atti is a huge fan of the see saw and the swings and slide also score quite highly!

Monty a bit under the weather

Unfortunately monsieur Monty has been a bit NQR of late. The vet thinks he has something stuck up his nose (one of Daphne's claws no doubt) and as a result has developed a respiratory infection. He's had a procedure to flush it out but without any luck and it looks like he may be having some surgery if he doesn't sneeze/cough it out sometime in the near future :-( I'll keep you posted ...
